Web Designer or Web Developer? Which do you need?

There are distinct differences between a “web designer” and a “web developer.” The two are related, but they also have different skill sets.

A web designer typically uses coding languages like html, and xml or xhtml, as well as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Flash, and Javascript to create visually pleasing web pages. Often, if the client needs a content management system or a shopping cart, they can use an existing platform (either licensed or open source) and build the page designs on that platform.

If your company’s needs are relatively simple, a web designer can create a very good site for you.
